I am RuthAnn Roundy-Webb, daughter of Reeda Roundy. I was really surprised to find a book had been written about my Mom's murder. I found the book fascinating. I wasn't allowed in the courtroom, with exception to sentencing. The court records were unavailable after Bill appealed, so the book was enlightening to what transpired. I appreciate Dixie getting the material written and published.There are a few minor inaccuracies about my Mom and her life. She was an amazingly beautiful, kind, and talented woman. I am grateful to have her influence in my life and wish I could have enjoyed her physical presence longer. Bill outlived both of my parents. I am hopeful that JoAnn, Sarah, and Jeff have healed with time. Clayton, Paul, and I have survived this tragedy together and I think our love for each other is intensified because of our trials.
Again, I want to thank Dixie for telling a story that I wasn't able to hear before.

While there are a few grammatical errors (effect instead of affect; Rugar instead of Ruger), oddly placed commas, and some repetition, these flaws did not distract me too much from the story. It is a well-written, detailed book about an interesting, yet sad crime. I would recommend it as one of the better-written true crime books out there.

As a retired criminal investigator for a district attorney I found this book EXTREMELY well researched and written. I would highly recommend it. I,'ll look forward to her next book.
Dixie did an excellent job. I was an observer at this trial ...so many years ago. So it was really interesting to relive the trial thru this book and to hear the backgrounds of all the people involved. Also to find out a lot of information that was not allowed or not brought up in the trial. I'm assuming that Mr. Gray died in prison, but wondering when. Or maybe he's still alive...getting special medical care, 3 meals a day, his own private cell, etc. He doesn't deserve to breathe our oxygen ....what a horrible man !!

As a former resident of Idaho Falls I am quite familiar with Jackson Hole and the areas between the two towns, and somewhat familiar with the murders. The citizens of these towns were shocked when these murders occurred, and they only knew what the local newspapers had reported. Unless they served on the jury or attended the trial they had no real understanding of the full story behind this awful crime and the final outcome. This book shares the court room drama, as well as what transpired in police interviews & interrogations, and provides us readers the opportunity to see and understand the full story. I found this book to be extremely informative, and hard to put down. This is a very interesting story about a double murderer that almost got away due to the incompetency of the prosecuting attorney's office. I have read a lot of true crime books in my life and the authors all have different approaches. For a first time author, I think this is a very good book.
I bought this book at Barnes & Noble when I noticed a poster advertising a book signing by the author. I know and admire Dixie Murphy and would have purchased anything she wrote out of curiosity. I also happen to enjoy True Crime, so I looked forward to exploring her book.
By the time I was 50 pages into the book, I had to purchase the Edition so I could keep reading after lights out. It is a page-turner, and I could barely put it down long enough to go to work. Although I lived in the area at the time of the murders, I moved out of town before the trial and was glad to get the real story. Dixie did a great job of research and of telling the true story in a way that was suspenseful and interesting.
I sincerely hope Dixie Murphy finds another true crime story that catches her interest. I can hardly wait to read more!
A very well written true crime , written like they should be. You start out getting to know the main people in the story , their lives , families and friends and their lifestyle .
This is the story of a couple who got married at a very young age , had a family and stayed married for many years. In the beginning , everyone thought it was a pretty good relationship , but after spending more time with them , they soon found the husband to be very mentally and verbally abusive , controlling and stingy with their money. I can't imagine how his wife put up with him for all those years , never getting angry or sticking up for herself.
As the years go by, the husband is involved in many shady dealings. After getting severely ill, his wife takes up the slack and keeps up with all her work plus his , still putting up with the abuse.
One night , it all comes to a head. A family is forever damaged , and one , possibly two innocent people are killed also.
The book was quite interesting, although a huge portion of it is the courtroom drama.
Now I need to see if this at hot has written any more books !
