Meet Aaron "Chance" Dumont
"I'm Chance, this is my place. You want me; this is where you can find me."
The problem with that, of course, was that it wasn't my name. My name was actually Aaron Dumont.
I picked up the name Chance as a kid when my grandma kept telling me "Chances are you'll come to no good, just like your pa." She had said it so often, it just kind of stuck. I've been Chance ever since. When she passed away and left me the remains of her estate, I sold everything but a few special items then invested it all in a nest egg for a rainy day.
I figured that's what she'd intended it for anyway. She'd said as soon as I joined the police force back in the eighties. "Chances are you'll come to no good there. It's a dangerous job and you're an accident waiting to happen."
She was right too.

Not sure you have to read these in any order, but I am really enjoying all of the books in the Pulp Friction series by Lee Brazil, Havan Fellows, Laura Harner, and Tom Webb. In this story we are introduced to Chance, owner/proprieter of the Chances Are bar where a lot of the scenes in this series unfold. Obviously something happened between Chance and his ex, Cannon, but what exactly that is has yet to be revealed. A rookie cop, Rory, is the object of Chance's desire in this book. Will Chance end up with Rory? I can't wait for the next book!Product details

I quite enjoyed it and would be interested in continuing the series, though there seemed to be a lot of missing back story. I don't really understand the whole Pulp fiction, three overlapping series thing but I simultaneously liked seeing the characters from Wicked Solutions and Triple Threat here and am annoyed at the chaotic reading order it creates. But I liked the story.

The book was very short, less than 900 locations, and the story didn't end. Apparently there will be a continuation of this book in two more parts, which is disappointing since the description did not hint at this. One of the characters names was mentioned once in the short story, then disappeared completely even when he was mentioned in the story-there was just a blank spot in each sentence where the character's name should appear. This made reading the story difficult when the sentence wouldn't make sense and you had to read and reread it to realize that that character's name was supposed to be included there. I have read most of Lee Brazil's books and really loved them but this short story was very lacking.

Good story. If I hadn't bought the sequel first then I wouldn't have known Thu book was part of a series . My copy did not have errors like the previous rating discussed. Story was good. Nice characters. I recommend this, but price is high for just 38 pages. Would buy it again.
